The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed strong dissatisfaction following today’s important meeting, citing the Federal Government’s failure to fulfill its promises.
According to the union, although reports claim that funds have been released, university lecturers have not received any payment alerts.
ASUU emphasized that they are expecting “credit alerts, not press statements,” accusing the Minister of Education of giving Nigerians a false impression about the actual situation.
The union further warned that if the government does not resolve key issues such as withheld salaries, unpaid wage awards, and pending promotion benefits, ASUU may have no choice but to embark on a nationwide strike starting November 21, after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting ends on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
